When
The Wind Blows Through
I started singing at age
five. I used to sing "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry" while
my Dad played harmonica. When I was eight, I sang
"Strawberry Fields" at a family get-together. This was the
very first time I remember singing in front of an audience.
Influences:
I have been fortunate to
have a very supportive family that has always encouraged me to explore
my singing talents. My sister, Janel used to
hold my hand and sing me to sleep at night. It left such an impression
on me that I was inspired to sing more myself. My Mom and Dad have always
encourage me to keep singing and explore my God-given talent. When I was younger I loved
listening to bands like "Heart" and "Supertramp".
They
were definitely vocal influences to me. Artists Dolly Parton and Patsy
Cline are also inspirational country vocalists. My pastor, Mike Sydow, was
also very encouraging. He motivated me to get involved in singing
activities including church choir and musicals. During high
school my
choir teacher, Hal Heath, also supported my singing talents by
involving me in many vocal groups. While attending Immanuel
Lutheran College I was also in concert choir, tour choir, and
musicals. While attending Marian College I was involved in choir,
vocal jazz, and Sabre show.
Future Plans:
I plan to continue
performing in front of a live audience. I went to Nashville,
Tennessee on October 27th, 2009 to cut my first single on
Jandar Records: "When the Wind Blows Through". I
am currently selecting songs for my
first full album. I have also written some of my
own music and lyrics. I plan to someday include these songs and lyrics
on an upcoming album.
